Macro-nutrients<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plants need them in\ngreater quantities.&nbsp;These are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nitrogen (N): To intensify the\u00a0green\u00a0color\u00a0and for the\u00a0development\u00a0of the foliage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phosphorus (P): For the\ndevelopment of new shoots and stimulates flowering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Potassium (K): To maintain humidity and increase\u00a0resistance\u00a0to pests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also included are:\nCalcium (Ka), Magnesium (Mg) and Sulfur (S).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Types of fertilizers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To supply these\nnutrients, 4 types of fertilizers can be applied:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soluble liquids<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soluble powders<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Osmocote (slow release\nfertilizer)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organic fertilizers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: granulated\nfertilizers should not be applied to orchids because they burn the roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Formulations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several\nformulations for orchids.&nbsp;Examples (NOK):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10-50-10;&nbsp;20-20-20;&nbsp;10-30-20;&nbsp;10-30-10;&nbsp;Bayfolan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2-Micro-nutrients:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are also important\nnutrients for plants, but they are required in small quantities.&nbsp;They\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iron (Fe), Zinc (Zn), Manganese (Mn),\u00a0Copper\u00a0(Ku), Boron (B), Molybdenum (Mo), Chlorine (Cl).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agrochemical products\nthat can be used in orchids:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fungicides<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Benomyl &#8211;\nBenlate<\/li><li>Dithane M-45<\/li><li>Captan<\/li><li>Terrazole<\/li><li>Afungil<\/li><li>Fungicide Organic\nBactericide<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Insecticides:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Determined<\/li><li>malathion<\/li><li>Organic\nRepellent Insecticide<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Bactericidal<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Agrimicin<\/li><li>Kocide (no\nstanhopea)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Fertilizers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Bayfolan<\/li><li>10-50-10<\/li><li>20-20-20<\/li><li>10-30-20<\/li><li>10-30-10<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To treat mites<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Kelthane<\/li><li><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fertilizer for orchids,&nbsp;without being a necessary product for the natural growth of our orchids if&nbsp;its use is &#8220;desirable&#8221;, to see how our orchids grow healthier&nbsp;and flower more profusely.&nbsp;
