Characteristics of Aloe brevifolia

Our protagonist is an evergreen plant native to the province of El Cabo, in South Africa. His surname, “brevifolia” derives from the little growth of the leaves. It is known by the common name Crocodile Teeth, since the margins of its leaves are protected by thick thorns of about 0.5 cm in the tooth shape. It is a plant that forms more or less high basal rosettes up to 40-50cm in height .

The floral stems, which emerge in spring, can reach practically the same height as the Aloe. From its highest part sprout the flowers, which have a tubular shape and are red. These have no aroma, as their pollinators, mostly insects, have no smell.
