Halfeti Black Roses

Halfeti Black Roses: The Only Real Black Rose In Nature

The black roses are among the most striking flowers in the world. The color black has always been associated with death, the negative, sadness and mourning, so that the fact that a living plant can produce flowers of such a dark color is something incredible, as Life with Death.

It is precisely this mystery that turns black roses into highly demanded flowers. But do they really exist in nature or are they the work of the human being?

BLACK ROSE FLOWER

Halfeti Roses, the only natural black roses that exist

Although in many nurseries or florists are busy dyeing roses flowers using dyes, it really is something that should not be necessary. In the small village of Halfeti, in the south of Turkey, live the Halfeti roses, which are completely black. This is because the soil has very special conditions: it has a high density and also contains water-soluble pigments called anthocyanins, which react at pH.

Anthocyanins are responsible for the dark color of fruits as well known as raspberries or blueberries. And also of the beautiful roses. But, if they are already very curious, they will be even more so when I tell you that they only acquire the color black during the summer . The rest of the year they are a dark red color, which is also very beautiful, but that undoubtedly has nothing to do with the black that so many people around the world like so much.

The only problem is that these roses are very difficult to find for sale ; Even the seeds are extremely rare to see. Moreover, the Turks themselves do not want to know much about them, because for them, as for many of the human beings that inhabit the planet, the color black symbolizes death and the arrival of bad news. So, how to have black roses?

HALFETI BLACK ROSE

Getting artificial black roses

As it is practically impossible to get natural black roses, it is best to do them ourselves at home. For this, we will need a rosebush that has red flowers (the darker the better), a plastic container, water and black kitchen coloring. Once we have it, we must follow this step by step:

  1. The first thing we have to do is place the rosebush in a semi-shaded place, in a corner where the sun does not shine directly throughout the day.
  2. Now, we take a container, we take five cups of water and a big spoonful of black dye.
  3. After, we will water with this solution every two weeks. We will repeat as many times as necessary.
  4. Finally, after a month we will see how the flowers begin to acquire a blackish tone almost as if it were natural. After a month, they will be completely black and we can plant the rosebushes in the garden or give to whomever we want.

Rosa Black Baccara, is not black … but almost, and easy to find!

The Black Baccara rose is a type of rose that you can easily find in any nursery or garden store . Moreover, if it were the case that they do not have it, you can always entrust it to them and in a few days they will have it. It is very good to get, and hardly requires any special care.

If you dare to get one, here is your care guide to produce a lot of almost black roses:

BLACK BACCARA ROSE…..ALMOST BLACK

Location

Place your Black Baccara rose outside, in an area where sunlight directly , if possible, all day. In the case that you do not have it, you can also put it in semi-shade, but it is important that it has more light than shade.

Irrigation

Watering must be frequent , especially in summer. During the warm months of the year it is necessary to water it every 2 days, and if it is a particularly hot climate (35ºC or more) a daily watering may be necessary. The rest of the year, it will be sufficient to water every 3-4 days.

Subscriber

During the whole growing season, that is, spring, summer and even autumn if the weather is mild, it must be paid with specific fertilizers for roses that you will find in the nurseries, or with liquid organic fertilizers such as guano. Follow the instructions specified on the package to avoid problems.

Pruning

You will need some scissors like these to prune your roses.

Like all roses, you have to remove the flower stems as they are drying to produce new, and in autumn or late winter you have to cut all stems between 5 and 10cm to get it to emit new .

THESE SCISSORS ARE SUITABLE FOR PRUNING BLACK ROSES AND ALL SPECIES OF ROSES AS WELL

Transplant

Whether you want to move to a larger pot or plant in the garden, you should do so in the spring , before it resumes its growth.

Soil or substrate

It is not demanding , but if it is in a pot, it prefers substrates that have good drainage, such as black peat mixed with pearlite in equal parts.

Problems you may have

The main problems that can have are:

  • Cochineal cotton : are white parasites of just 0.5cm in length that feed on the sap of plants. They adhere to the stems and can weaken them a lot. Fortunately, as they can be seen with the naked eye, they can be removed with an ear swab moistened with pharmacy alcohol.
  • Aphids : are very small parasites, less than 0.5 cm in length, brown or green that are deposited in the flower buds and flowers, which weaken. The treatment consists in fighting them with an insecticide whose active matter is Chlorpyrifos.

Multiplication

You can have new specimens if you multiply the plant by stem cuttings at the end of winter (towards the month of February in the Northern Hemisphere). You just have to follow this step by step:

  1. Cut some stems that measure about 15cm in length.
  2. Moistens its base with water, and impregnates these with rooting hormones in powder.
  3. Plant the cuttings in individual pots with sandy substrates.
  4. Put them on the outside, in semi-shade.
  5. Water

In two or three weeks they will root ????.
