With the right ideas, your balcony becomes an outdoor living room. You can even do that with little money. You just need to be a little creative.

Those who have an apartment in the city usually long for a small spot of green where they can really relax and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to own a garden. You can be really happy if your own apartment has a balcony. Here you can also let the sun shine on your nose and enjoy the warm temperatures.

Of course, this only works with feeling good and relaxing if the balcony is comfortably furnished. But that doesn’t mean that you have to buy expensive lounge furniture and extravagant decorative items to make yourself comfortable on the balcony. You don’t really have to invest a lot of money. Those who are a little talented in craftsmanship can conjure up a beautiful outdoor living room with little money. Here are a few ideas and suggestions.

You can do everything yourself

Anyone who thinks that balcony furniture is always made of polyrattan or aluminium and has to be bought accordingly is wrong. You can also easily make your own balcony furniture – for example from wooden pallets. This is absolutely trendy at the moment anyway. Not only because garden furniture made of wooden pallets has something very special, but also because it is inexpensive to manufacture.

If you want to keep the curious glances away from the street, you have to cover the balcony railing. This works best with bamboo mats, for example. You can get 1.5 x 4 meters at Amazon for only 14.95 dollar. If you like it more natural, you can also plant higher growing flowers or shrubs in tubs and place them on the ground.

In summer it is the most beautiful thing to sit by the water. If you don’t always have the time, you can take the water home with you. In the form of a mini pond for the balcony. You don’t even need much for that. Only a brick bucket, gravel, stones, pond pots and water plants.

  1. Take the bucket and fill the floor with a layer of gravel. Then white pebbles are added, as these look particularly beautiful.
  2. Now pick up pond pots and fill them with the white stones at the bottom. Then place the pond plants on top and fill up the rest with the stones. This keeps the pond plants in place.

The next time you go shopping, look out for wooden fruit boxes. These are usually thrown away anyway. So just ask if you could have it. The same applies to wine crates. Then you can stack them on a wall of the balcony and you have already created a great wall shelf. You can also screw individual fruit boxes to the wall. If you like, you can design the boxes in colour beforehand.

❺ Flower pots from tins

Of course you don’t have to buy flower pots either. You can easily make them yourself from tins. Wash out cans, dry well and then paint or spray with paint. There are no limits to your imagination when it comes to design. With small means it is fast and simply possible to arrange its balcony or also the terrace comfortably and nevertheless favorable.

❻ Lanterns from cans / preserving jars

From the cans you can also conjure up lanterns. To do this, however, you have to use a cordless screwdriver and drill holes or a pattern into the cans. Afterwards design colored and ready are the lanterns. You can find out exactly how this is done here.
