Lemon verbena tea helps relax and soothe as well. 2. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia ) Fragrant lavender can be used to make simple syrups or as a dessert garnish. Lavender is also used in aromatherapy, hydrosols, and sachets and is thought to have a calming effect. 3. Mint (Mentha spp.) Mint is often used as an accompaniment to lamb and Middle Eastern dishes. And of course, there’s nothing like a cup of freshly brewed mint tea after a heavy meal, or a glass of refreshing mint iced tea in the summer after a long day of gardening. 4. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) In addition to being a flavorful addition to meat, potato, and pasta dishes, rosemary works wonders as a refreshing foot soak. Just add a few fresh rosemary sprigs to some hot water, let steep, and soak away tired feet! 5. Chervil ( Anthriscus cerefolium ) Not well known in the US, chervil is a sweeter version of parsley, used to flavor soups, herb butters, and egg dishes. Easily grown from seed, it thrives in shade. The seeds can be chewed to freshen breath. Recommended Reading: Your Backyard Herb Garden |
