Garden rain boots

Sometimes garden clogs and muck shoes just aren’t enough when you’re working around the garden, especially if you live in a climate where there’s a distinct mud season, rainy season, or it’s just a little too cool to wear those flip flops or crocs that so many people love wearing--even to garden in. That’s a why a good pair of rain or garden boots is essential.

The good news is that there are more choices than ever when it comes to garden boots. It used to be that Wellington Boots, affectionately known as wellies, were your only choice. Not any more. Now you can choose from a dizzying array of boots, from designer names like Coach and Dolce & Gabbana (I’m serious) to your garden variety (pun intended) Wal-mart brand.

Or how about these beautiful green Victorian patterned rain boots, or these red plaid rain boots from Kamik (a brand Canadians and northerners will recognize). Some like these funky butterfly garden boots almost seem too "cool" to work around the garden in, whereas these Sunflower Wellies seem much more sensible. After all, when you’re wearing these you’re less apt to mind when they get covered in mud.

Whichever style you choose, just be certain they are well constructed, waterproof (they should be easy to clean under the water hose), and easy to get on and off. In addition, some boots are heavier than others and may be too awkward or clunky for your tastes and needs.
