 Glass Watering Ball

Glass watering bulbs, balls, or spheres as they are often called are simple, functional, and attractive devices that will help to keep the soil in your container plants from drying out--at least for a few days. They’re a great gift idea for busy gardeners and are easy to use.

The main advantage of using a watering bulb is that there is a slow and even release of water into the soil over several days. To use a watering bulb simply create a channel in the soil with the stem, add water to the bulb, insert the stopper, push the stem into the soil at a slight angle, and let the watering bulb go to work. Refill as needed.

Measuring 14 inches long and 3.5 inches in diameter, most watering bulbs are beautifully crafted glass objects as well. For example, this set of three glow watering balls in blue, green, or red from Plow & Hearth are just beautiful as are these hand-blown glass watering globes are more practical. Then of course there is also the popular "As Seen on TV" Aqua Globes.
