![]() If you're searching for an eco-friendly paving material, consider recycled rubber pavers. Manufactured for residential, commercial, and equestrian applications, rubber pavers are durable yet forgiving unlike concrete, or asphalt or even packed dirt. Made from recycled tire rubber, the raw material is molded into pavers under conditions of high heat and pressure. Paver colors typically include red, green, tan, gray, black. Shapes tend to vary by manufacturer, but most are square, rectangular, or hexagonal. some, like the recycled rubber brick pavers pictured above are sold in mats that are easily laid down over an existing concrete patio for instance. Rubber pavers are made for outdoor use and can be laid over concrete, brick, rubber, or asphalt surfaces, as well as a compacted subsurface layer of 3" to 6" of compacted crushed stone and screened fines. Rubber pavers work well as a paving material for the patio or terrace, under a swing set, or as stepping stones for a garden path. In addition to being an eco-friendly recycled product, rubber pavers are odor free, self-extinguishing, and when laid over crushed stone or dirt, water drain through into the subsoil replenishing the water table.
