![]() Fiskars, as many gardeners know, is a name associated with quality gardening tools. Now, like many other makers of garden tools and products, they’re jumping on the “green gardening” bandwagon and have introduced a collection eco-friendly pottery for the eco-conscious gardener. Made from the byproducts of renewable sustainable materials such as rice straw, wheat straw, bamboo and reeds, these attractive pots combine sustainability with beauty and function. Available in three colors, color (appropriately named) selections chocolate, goldenrod and moss, the 5-inch square pots are designed to withstand years of rain, humidity, heat, freezing and thawing. Working as well as traditional clay, wood, or even plastic pots and suitable for indoor or outdoor use, they are biodegradable. Whether you toss them in the compost heap or trash or plant them in the ground, they will break down into nutrient-rich organic matter. According to Fiskars, many people have noticed their plants flourish once they transfer them into Eco-Friendly Pottery. The company speculates that it may be because these “green” pots are excellent heat insulators stimulating root growth and contributing to plant health. Who knows? I like them because they come in two of my favorite colors chocolate brown and moss green! More information: www.fiskars.com |
